Mary Katsilometes,
Portland, Oregon, began writing icons in 1992 under the direction of Charles Rohrbacher. In 1993 and 1998 she studied in France with Fr. Egon Sendler. In 2005 she toured major icon sites in Russia. She is a member of St. Philip Neri Church in Portland and of Christians in the Visual Arts. She has written icons for St. Philip Neri Church, Portland, OR; Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Beaverton, OR; St. Mary's Academy, the Catholic Worker House and the University of Portland, Portland, OR; the Orthodox community in Gold Beach, OR, Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Monastery in Lafayette, OR, and for numerous individuals. She has worked as a studio artist and an arts administrator. Her work was also included in the CIVA national traveling exhibit. Mary teaches all levels of summer Institute students, and the bi-monthly classes.

Kathy Sievers,
Hillsboro, Oregon, has taught art to students from pre-school age to senior citizens. She has studied iconography with Michael O'Brien and Charles Rohrbacher, and with Fr. Egon Sendler (France 1992 and 1998). In 2005 she toured major icon sites in Russia. Kathy has completed icons for individuals and communities across the U.S., including the Society of Jesus (Oregon Province), St. Edward's Catholic Church, North Plains, OR; Holy Family Catholic Church, Portland, OR; Servite Priory, Anaheim, CA, and St. Matthew Parish in Hillsboro, OR. She also writes articles and speaks to parish groups about iconography. She has exhibited her work in national and regional liturgical arts conferences. Her work also appeared in the CIVA national traveling exhibit. She works full-time as an iconographer. Kathy teaches all levels of summer Institute students, as well as the bi-monthly classes.
Claudia Coose,
Albuquerque, New Mexico, began painting icons in 1990, soon giving up a full-time career in nursing to pursue painting. In 1997 and 1999 she received grant funds from the New Mexico Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program as a master artist to teach iconography. Claudia has taught several classes as well as individual students. She has studied with several iconographers, choosing to work with those whose work attracts her technically or spiritually to new levels of insight. Her icons have been shown in several galleries in New Mexico, as well as in the Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) national traveling exhibit, "Icons: Windows to Eternity." She recently returned to nursing, and as her schedule allows, she teaches the intermediate/advanced levels at the summer Institute.
