Dear Patron of the Icon –
2006-2007 was a banner year for the Iconographic Arts Institute, and you have been an important part of it. With your help, 2007-2008 promises to be even brighter and more exciting. The Institute students continue to be diverse in faith backgrounds and to come from all over the United States and from Canada .
One of the major undertakings of the Institute during this past year was the initiation of a new Practicum Program. Involving the Institute’s most advanced students, the Practicum was an extremely successful endeavor in which the students worked with a parish community in planning and prayer to write a beautiful icon of the Protection of the Holy Veil of the Mother of God. Plans are already underway for next summer’s project.
Besides the Practicum and Beginning groups, Intermediate and Advanced students worked at five different curriculum levels during the 2007 Summer Session, and work continued on a large triptych icon of the Protection of the Holy Veil of the Mother of God for the Queen of Angels monastic community.
In an ongoing desire to train future teachers for the Institute, your gracious assistance this past year has made possible the hiring of a Teaching Assistant. The new TA brings to this position marvelous artistic abilities and a great passion for the Icon in all its beauty. She has been, and will be, a tremendous addition to the teaching staff.
The Institute continues its efforts to move away from a strictly tuition driven entity, and your help over this past year continues to make this goal possible. While the Practicum Project will make moving the Icon into individual faith communities a reality, other aspects of the Institute’s operation present great needs. Perhaps most importantly, as costs continue to increase each year, your generosity will make much needed financial assistance available to students who otherwise would simply not be able to answer the call to work in this ministry.
Thank you for your ongoing support. May the Blessings of God be full and complete for you.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors – Iconographic Arts Institute
